Wangchuk and his supporters marched to Delhi from Leh to press their demand and were detained at the capital's Singhu border
The demands of the protesters include statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, among others
Wangchuk, in a brief interaction with media before starting the fast, said they were forced to stage the protest at the Ladakh Bhawan after failing to find any venue for their stir
Wangchuk had on Friday said he and other protesters from Ladakh would sit on an indefinite fast since they have not received any response from the government
He said they have requested the authorities to provide them space in Jantar Mantar for holding the fast, but they have not received any confirmation yet
The senior law officer also said that the Delhi Police order prohibiting assembly and protests in various parts of Delhi has also been withdrawn

However, he said the marchers, numbering around 20, would move forward to Changthang near the China border only if there is no objection from the government
The activist ended his 21-day-long hunger strike in support of the demand for statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution on Tuesday evening
