While the overall air quality over Delhi is likely to improve to fluctuate between "Poor" to "Very Poor" category in the coming days, authorities decided to revoke Stage-III of the GRAP in the entire NCR with immediate effect.

Himachal Congress President expelled 30 party leaders from the primary membership of the party for the next six years for anti-party activities, say reports.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) swept the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections on Wednesday, with Arvind Kejriwal-led party bagging 134 seats. This is the first time in the last 15 years that the BJP will not control the MCD, however, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not far behind, as it won 104 seats. The BJP has governed the civic body in Delhi since 2007.

The polling for MCD elections took place on December 4 (Sunday) and the counting of votes started at 8 am today to decide the winner of the high-stakes civic polls where AAP and BJP and Congress were in the fray. The Congress party could only bag nine seats. A total of 1,349 candidates contested in the MCD polls.

Multiple exit polls had predicted that AAP will sweep Delhi, BJP will be a distant second, while Congress only getting a handful of seats.

MCD is one of the largest municipal bodies in the world and caters to over 11 million residents. It runs primary schools, dispensaries, waste management, roads, and sanitation in the capital of India. The MCD polls are also unique because it is a junction where the central government and the state government compete with each other.

The national capital witnessed high-decibel campaigning by AAP and BJP which made top leaders, including Union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states and MPs hit the streets for door-to-door campaigning and meetings to garner public support.
