India beating Australia in the last two Test series in the latter's backyard has made the rivalry between the two teams more intense, feels senior batter Usman Khawaja ahead of the five-match battle beginning November 22.
India had beaten Australia on their last two tours of Australia (2018-19 and 2020-21) with an identical 2-1 margin.
In fact, India have won all the last four series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, taking into account their home wins in 2016-17 and 2022-23 -- both also 2-1 results in a four-match contest.
"For Indians it's always been the case to beat Australia. And more recently, you know, since the rise of India and IPL and everything else that happened, it's the same way with Australia against India," Khawaja said.
"And particularly since India's beaten Australia in Australia the last two times they've come out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It just means a little bit more, he told  Star Sports.

The alliance talks over seat sharing between the Congress and the AAP for the Haryana Assembly polls have hit a roadblock, and the Arvind Kejriwal-led party is planning to contest 50 seats in the state, sources claimed on Friday.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to issue its first list of candidates on Sunday, sources in the AAP claimed just before a meeting of the Congress' central election committee.
"The alliance talks are on the verge of collapse in Haryana and the AAP is planning to contest 50 of the 90 assembly seats in the state on its own," sources in the AAP claimed.
Earlier, the party insiders had said that the AAP was demanding 10 assembly seats in Haryana whereas the Congress was offering five to seven seats.
Sources said no consensus was in sight over seat sharing.
The AAP and the Congress, partners in the Indian Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), contested the recent Lok Sabha polls in Haryana, Gujarat and Delhi together.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday announced an immediate assistance of Rs 3,448 crore to mitigate the impact of floods in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Chouhan, who is in Telangana today after reviewing the flood situation in Andhra Pradesh, said: "No one needs to be disappointed. We are working to provide immediate help".
Presently, the arrangement is being made to provide immediate assistance of Rs 3,448 crore under the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), which also includes the central government's share, he said.
After providing immediate assistance, the government will think about making available fertilisers and seeds to farmers for the next crop, he added.
The minister also assured the farming community that the Centre will provide appropriate compensation after the assessment of the crop damage.
"We will ask the banks not to recover loans from farmers in times of crisis," he added.

Senior Haryana BJP leader Anil Vij on Friday took a dig at wrestler Vinesh Phogat over joining the Congress, saying what objection could they have if she wanted to become "Congress ki beti" from "desh ki beti".
The former minister was asked about Phogat and another wrestler Bajrang Punia, both from Haryana, hours before the two joined the Congress on Friday ahead of the Assembly polls in the state.
"... Agar woh desh ki beti sey Congress ki beti banna chaahti hai, to hamein kya etraaz hai (if Vinesh wants to become Congress' daughter from being the country's daughter, what objection can we have)," the former Haryana home minister said.
Vij said the Congress was trying to bring these players with them from the very first day and it was due to their instigation that the wrestlers started the movement in Delhi.

Peak XV Partners, formerly Sequoia Capital India and SEA, on Friday, divested a little over 22 per cent stake in Indigo Paints to investors like Morgan Stanley, Mercer and HDFC MF for Rs 1,557 crore via open market transactions.
Venture capital firm Peak XV Partners through its two affiliates, Peak XV Partners Investments IV and Peak XV Partners Investments V, offloaded a total of 1.05 crore shares, amounting to a 22.04 per cent stake in Pune-headquartered Indigo Paints, as per the bulk deal data on the NSE.
The shares were sold in the price range of Rs 1,475.96-1,489.35 apiece, taking the transaction value to Rs 1,557.05 crore.
After the latest transaction, the shareholding of Peak XV Partners Investments IV has declined to 1.54 per cent from 12.14 per cent, while Peak XV Partners Investments V's stake has come down to 1.65 per cent from 13.09 per cent.
