Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in the liquor policy case. Mr Kejriwal has been called in on Thursday. This is the second time the central agency has summoned the Aam Aadmi Party boss; the first was on November 2. Mr Kejriwal skipped the summons, opting instead to campaign for his party in Madhya Pradesh.

Before adjourning the House, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar warned MPs Jebi Mather and Binoy Viswam about disrupting House proceedings. Earlier, the Lok Sabha also faced disruption, leading to its adjournment for the day as the opposition stirred massive sloganeering.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 402 km-long stretch of the new Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to New Bhaupur Junction of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) today. Built at a cost of Rs 10,903 crores, the stretch marks a crucial part of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. This section is situated on the Delhi-Howrah rail route, passing through districts such as Chandauli, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat in Uttar Pradesh. It encompasses 12 stations, including six junction stations and six crossing stations.

Tamil Nadu government has declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, private institutions, banks and financial institutions on Monday following heavy rainfall in the south districts of the state. The holiday has been declared in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Tenkasi districts. The state has been witnessing rains continuously since Sunday morning in Kovilpatti, Ettayapuram, Vilathikulam, Kalugumalai, Kayathar, Kadambur, Vembar, Surangudi, and other areas of Thoothukudi district. "The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has advised us (the Minister and IAS officers) to be on the spot and take necessary measures to ensure people's safety," the Tamil Nadu Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management told media.

Close to 100 MPs suspended in unprecedented government-Opposition showdown

In an unprecedented development, 78 MPs, including both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, were suspended today for staging protests in demand of a statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the security breach in Parliament last week. Fourteen MPs had been suspended last week, also for demanding a statement on the security breach. So, this takes the total number of MPs suspended in this session to 92. 
 
In Lok Sabha, 30 MPs have been suspended for the remainder of the session and three have been suspended till the privileges committee submits a report on their conduct. As for Rajya Sabha, 35 members have been suspended for the rest of session and 11 till a report by privileges panel. Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien had been suspended after he demanded a discussion on the breach. 
 
The suspended MPs from Lok Sabha include Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Congress's leader in Lok Sabha, and Gaurav Gogoi, deputy leader of the party in the House. Trinamool MPs Kalyan Banerjee, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Saugata Ray and Satabdi Roy, and DMK members A Raja and Dayanidhi Maran are also on the list.

Four killed, more than 10 injured in a critical road accident in UP's Jalaun

Four people were killed, including two women, and more than 10 people sustained injuries after a truck collided with a pickup under the Orai police station of Jalaun district on Sunday, said police. The incident happened near Bundelkhand Over Bridge, Jhansi Kanpur Nation Highway 27. Around 30 people from village Mohana had gone to Orchha and Datia for a picnic on Sunday morning and were returning the same day at night. As per the reports, the collision was so forceful that the pickup overturned on the side of the highway, leading to the deaths of two women, a teenage girl and a child, on the spot.
