A fire broke out in the coaches of a Patna-Jharkhand passenger train. Efforts are underway to douse off the fire. On Monday, three coaches of the Taj Express train caught fire in southeast Delhi's Sarita Vihar. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident as passengers managed to get out of the affected coaches in time, according to officials.

The Supreme Court ordered today that Himachal Pradesh must release 125 cusecs of additional water to Delhi. Affected by water scarcity, the additional water supply from Himachal Pradesh comes as a relief to the national capital.

Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for a third consecutive term, media outlets reported. President Vladimir Putin issued a warning to Germany on Wednesday that the Moscow could  provide long-range weapons to others to strike Western targets as the employment of its weapons by Ukraine to strike targets inside Russia would mark a “dangerous step.” Putin asserted that Moscow could take “asymmetrical” steps as using such Western weapons for striking Russian territory involves military personnel of the respective countries controlling the missiles and selecting targets.  
Such action by the West will further undermine international security and could lead to “very serious problems”, Putin added.
“That would mark their direct involvement in the war against the Russian Federation, and we reserve the right to act the same way,” Putin stated.

 27 people died in an Israeli airstrike on a Gaza school, with Israel claiming that the compound housed Hamas militants, Reuters reported. According to local media, the school compound was housing people displaced due to the ongoing war. Israel alleged the United Nations school in Nuseirat, in central Gaza, had hidden a Hamas command post.

2023 Parliament attack case: Delhi L-G accords prosecution sanction against 6 accused under UAPA

Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena accorded prosecution sanction against 6 persons under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly attacking the Parliament, the Office of L-G said in a statement on Thursday. The attack took place on December 13, when the House proceedings were on.
 
Six persons, namely Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, Neelam Ranolia, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat, are accused of illegally entering the Parliament and throwing smoke canisters in the Lok Sabha during the live session, it said.
