Indian Railways is on the verge of a significant breakthrough as it is set to achieve a historical milestone- the 14-minute cleaning miracle for every Vande Bharat train, official sources said on Saturday. The Vande-Bharat trains known for their indigenization are equipped with cutting-edge facilities for passengers to offer a swifter, comfortable and remarkably convenient travel experience. According to the Ministry of Railways sources, these trains will be covered under the "14-minute miracle" scheme which is set to be launched on October 1 at Terminal Stations across Indian Railways as part of the 'Swachhata-Hi-Seva' campaign. The scheme will be formally launched at the Delhi Cantt Railway Station. 
 
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested an accused in a case related to a transnational conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh-based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against the Indian government by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in Manipur. The agency sleuths arrested Seiminlun Gangte in a case the NIA registered suo moto on July 19 this year. The accused has been brought to Delhi after his arrest and will be produced before the jurisdictional court.

As the period specified for the withdrawal process has come to an end, and based on a review, it has been decided to extend the current arrangement for the deposit/exchange of Rs 2000 banknotes until October 07, 2023, says Reserve Bank of India (RBI), according to media reports.

PM Modi underlined the need for comprehensive development at the grassroots level, highlighting the importance of all-encompassing progress over mere statistical achievements. The Prime Minister highlighted the transformative impact of the Aspirational Districts Programme, citing its positive influence on the lives of over 25 crore individuals in 112 districts across India. "Success of Aspirational Districts Programme will form the basis of Aspirational Blocks Programme," PM Modi said while launching the blocks programme.

Eminent farm scientist M S Swaminathan was cremated here on Saturday with government honours, marked by a police gun salute. A platoon of police personnel in ceremonial attire gave a gun salute and bugle was played marking the Tamil Nadu government's honour at a crematory here. The final rites were performed by the family members and the body was cremated at the Besant Nagar electric crematorium.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Saturday described electoral bonds as "legalised bribery" and claimed that, as their fresh tranche opens on October 4, it will be a "golden harvest" for the BJP. The government on Friday approved the issuance of the 28th tranche of electoral bonds that will open for sale for 10 days beginning October 4.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the concluding ceremony of two 'Parivartan Yatras' of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bilaspur city of poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Saturday, a party leader has said. This is PM Modi's third visit to the Congress-ruled state, where assembly elections are due this year-end, in the last three months. The prime minister will address the 'Parivartan Mahasankalp' rally, the closing ceremony of two Parivartan Yatras, at Science College ground here at 2 pm, state BJP chief Arun Sao told reporters on Friday.

The governments of India and Canada will have to talk to each other and see how they resolve their differences over the death of a Khalistani separatist, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said, asserting that the larger issue of "permissiveness" must be flagged and addressed. During an interaction with Indian journalists here on Friday, he said India was ready to look into the information related to Canada's allegations of the "potential" involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18 in British Columbia.
