Rekharam Meghwal, a labourer from Rajasthan's Barmer, has proved that not riches and amenities but dedicated hard work is needed to achieve one’s goal in life. He has cracked the REET Main Level 2 exams.

Sharing his inspirational story on Twitter, the Dholpur Police Department said that Meghwal was emptying a cement truck under the scorching sun when the result of REET Level-2 Mathematics Science came in and he passed with flying colours without any coaching or assistance from the library.

"After all, hard work never goes to waste. Those who try never fail," the Dholpur Police said.

What is REET?

REET stands for Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teacher, an exclusive state-level competitive exam conducted in Rajasthan. This test is conducted to certify candidates as eligible teachers to be employed in Rajasthan and is curated by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (BSER).

Essentially, the REET is conducted to recruit teachers for schools in Rajasthan. The recruitment is done for teachers of two levels of classes:
  • Level I or Primary
  • Level II or Upper Primary
Hence, those applicants who clear REET successfully, at Level I and Level II, will be eligible to teach students of classes 1-5 and classes 6-8, respectively, in Rajasthan’s educational institutions.

Key factors about REET
  • The test is usually conducted once every year or as per the vacancies available.
  • The exam is conducted in offline mode and for a duration of 150 minutes.
  • The test can be written in either English or Hindi.
  • There is no prescribed age limit to write the REET examination.
