Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) is taking a host of measures to reduce carbon emissions of its present and planned capacities, which includes setting up renewable energy capacities, Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said.
During FY22, JSL reduced its carbon emissions by 3,100 metric tonnes and initiated a switch from a thermal energy-intensive manufacturing setup to renewable energy alternatives such as solar and wind power, Jindal told PTI during an interaction.
"Continuing forward, we are taking proactive steps to decarbonise and reduce carbon emissions of our present and planned capacities. The move is aimed to support the government's mission of carbon-neutrality," he said.
In the renewable energy space, JSL is looking for partners to set up 300 MW solar and wind capacities in states like Odisha, Haryana and Rajasthan, Jindal said, adding that the talks with a few players are already underway. In a fresh attack on the Ahmadi community in Pakistan, the minarets of three worship places of the minority group in different districts of Punjab province were demolished by radical Islamists who alleged that the minarets signified that of a Muslim mosque.
The incident comes more than a week after arches of a worship place of the Ahmadi community were destroyed in defiance of a high court order banning such actions against the places of worship of the minority community built before 1984.

The government on Monday extended the due date for filing income tax returns by companies by one month till November 30.
Also, the due date for furnishing audit reports by companies who need to get their accounts audited has been extended by one month till October 31.
"The due date of furnishing of Return of Income in Form ITR-7 for Assessment Year 2023-24, which is 31.10.2023 is extended to 30.11.2023, the finance ministry said in a statement.

India's only Asian Games individual medallist in recurve section, Tarundeep Rai, feels at least one from the men's archery team could win a medal in the Hangzhou edition and end a 13-year-long drought in the continental showpiece.

Commonwealth Games silver medallist 3000m steeplechase runner Avinash Sable hopes to get over the World Championships disappointment and set a new national record en route to a gold medal in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
By his own admission, Sable is not satisfied with the season so far, which includes a disappointing seventh-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase heat at the World Championships in Budapest last month, thereby failing to qualify for the final.
But come the Asian Games, Sable feels he is in a good frame of mind to register his best result of the season.
