Daimler India gets its first BS-VI certificate for tractor model 5528TT

Commercial vehicles maker Daimler India has forayed into the pre-owned business segment under its new brand 'BharatBenz Certified', the company said on Monday.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles is a wholly owned subsidiary of Stuttgart-based Daimler Truck AG.
The new business initiative would refurbish and sell pre-owned BharatBenz trucks to customers.
To be initially available at Trident Trucking in Bengaluru, the BharatBenz Certified programme would be expanded to other dealerships across the country.
"Our perpetual and thorough market research practice brought to our attention the aspiration of customers who would like to purchase pre-owned BharatBenz trucks. This need in the market gave birth to the idea of launching BharatBenz Certified -- a company-steered pre-owned CV business initiative...," BharatBenz Marketing, sales, and customer service, President Rajaram K said.
BharatBenz Certified would also be the catalyst for its customers to upgrade their fleet to new BharatBenz

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) on Monday announced growth in its sales and revenue in 2022, selling over 29,000 units during the calendar year (CY).
A company release said "despite supply chain headwinds and adverse cost environment, 2022 was one of the most successful business years."
"The company reported a revenue growth of 37 per cent and a sales growth of 25 per cent in CY 2022 over CY 2021. 2022 was especially the best year of growth as DICV sold a total of 29,470 domestic and export units of trucks and buses in the calendar year," DICV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, Germany, said.
In 2022, the vehicle-maker crossed the production milestone of two lakh vehicles, including for domestic and exports.
"The company recorded its best ever annual vehicle exports with 11,000 units, best-ever annual part sales (over 245 million parts) and best-ever annual domestic vehicle sales in 2022," it added.

Daimler to unveil long-distance electric car in October

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd (DICV) on Friday reported 48 per cent growth in truck wholesales at 14,222 units in 2021.
The company, which manufactures BharatBenz brand of trucks and buses, had registered truck wholesales of 9,624 units in 2020.
"Despite supply chain headwinds, rising input costs, rising fuel prices and the impact of the pandemic, we closed the year with a 48 per cent increase in domestic wholesales and achieved highest-ever growth in exports of trucks, buses and parts," DICV Managing Director & CEO, Satyakam Arya said in a statement.
Exports of trucks and buses were at 9,073 units in 2021 as against 4,680 units in 2020, a growth of 93.87 per cent.
Arya said DICV and 'BharatBenz' complete 10 years in the Indian market in 2022 and the company is geared up for a "sustainable growth this year".

Pre-owned vehicles and equipment marketplace Shriram Automall India Ltd (SAMIL) on Monday said it has entered into a strategic partnership with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) to expand its used vehicle exchange business in commercial vehicle (CV) space.
Under the partnership, SAMIL will provide its online-offline auction platforms to facilitate quick sale of used commercial trade-in vehicles to individuals approaching dealers of BharatBenz, a brand of DICV, and purchase new DICV vehicles, the company said in a statement.
SAMIL CEO Sameer Malhotra said, "We are confident that this association will benefit both sides. Our platform has the capability to serve more players like DICV and make the trade in processes easier for them, thus freeing them to focus on their core competency while we focus on ours."

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has said it has received its first BS-VI readiness certification with heavy-duty tractor trailer model, 5528TT.
The 5528TT, which is targeted at applications like cement, bulkers, steel coils, tankers and other heavy load transportation, received homologation certificate from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), DICV said in a statement.
Commenting on the development, DICV Managing Director and CEO Satyakam Arya said,"at DICV, we fully utilise our know-how and experience from Daimler's global platforms for BS VI. Furthermore, our in-house R&D centre gives us the advantage in customising platforms for local duty cycle and usage patterns."
The BharatBenz BS-VI engine and after-treatment system are built on the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) based technology which the brand pioneered since introduction of BS-IV in 2017, it added.

Adani Group on Thursday bagged two contracts worth Rs 13,888 crore from a state-owned discom to install smart meters.
A total of six tenders were awarded by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) to install smart meters, of which two have been bagged by the Adani Group, according to an official communiqu from the discom seen by PTI.
The diversified group, which has a sizeable presence in the power sector and had recently won a Rs 1,000 crore contract to install smart meters in the area serviced by BEST Undertaking in Mumbai, will act as an advanced metering infrastructure service provider for smart prepaid metering in MSEDCL, it said.
The two zones awarded to Adani include Bhandup, Kalyan and Konkan having 63.44 lakh meters, and Baramati and Pune having 52.45 lakh meters, it said.
Letter of Awards have been issued to the successful firms, as per the communiqu.

The Manipur government on Friday told the Supreme Court that it has filed a status report on the issue of recovery of arms from "all sources" in the ethnic violence-hit state.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud that the report has been filed on the issue and it is for the judges only.
He informed the bench, also comprising Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, about another short affidavit in the matter.
Mehta told the bench that the affidavit says "whatever issues are being debated here are already been brought to the notice of the (apex court-appointed) committee" and the panel is considering them.
The top court had earlier appointed a judges committee, headed by Justice (retd) Gita Mittal, to oversee relief and rehabilitation of victims of ethnic violence in the state.
