Leading furniture retailer Ikea has introduced doorstep delivery facility in 62 new markets in India, and the company expects online demand to go up in the coming years, the company's India CEO Susanne Pulverer said. At present, Ikea India gets around 25 per cent of its sales through online channels. The company will soon launch its Shop By Phone assistance service, she said. This is part of the approach of the entire Ikea brand evolving towards an omnichannel approach globally, acknowledging the challenges of people having less time and the importance of convenience in their purchasing decisions, said Pulverer. Logistics firm DHL Express will hike the prices for parcel deliveries by an average of 6.9 per cent in India from next year as part of its annual price adjustment exercise, the company said on Friday. Prices are adjusted on an annual basis, taking into consideration various factors, including inflation, DHL Express said. "The average increase in India will be 6.9 per cent and it will take effect on January 1, 2024," the company said, adding that a number of services and surcharges will also be adjusted. "Overall, the global macroeconomic situation has started to stabilize although uncertainty remains. The Arvind Kejriwal government's flagship doorstep delivery of services scheme in Delhi is likely to be expanded soon with the addition of 58 more services, officials said on Wednesday. The doorstep delivery scheme currently covers 100 services of 13 departments. Chief Minister Kejriwal is expected to launch doorstep delivery of the new services in the first week of August, a senior officer said. Preparations for the launch are almost complete and the software for it has been tested, he said. The 58 new services include 29 related to the transport department. These include international driving permits, name change in driving licences and issuing vehicle fitness certificates, according to an official document. Some services related to the Mukhya Mantri Tirth Yatra Yojna and ex gratia payment are also in the list of new services to be added to the doorstep delivery scheme.
