With Infosys' contract for providing technology support for Goods and Services Tax (GST) ending in September 2024, GST Network (GSTN) has started scouting for a consultancy firm to prepare the bid document for selection of a new service provider and a roadmap for transitioning the system capacity to the next level -- GST 2.0.
The consultancy firm would have to ensure a competitive bidding process and a seamless transition of the IT service backbone of GSTN to another technology company, who would be providing the software and hardware required in GST systems for the next seven years beginning October 1, 2024.
The scope of work of the consultancy firm would include preparing a request for proposal (RFP) document by evaluating the present system, based on the experience of the GST technology system of the past seven years, and provide a roadmap for enhancement and operations for the next contract period.

The order book position of BTL EPC Ltd, the engineering arm of city-based Shrachi Group, stands at Rs 1800 crore, an official said.
The engineering entity recently bagged an order from BHEL for setting up an ash handling system for a supercritical thermal power plant in Telangana which is valued at Rs 446 crore.
Managing Director of BTL EPC Ravi Todi said, "The order book position of the company now stands at Rs 1800 crore after bagging an order of around Rs 446 crore from BHEL for a power plant in Telangana."
He said that in 2021-22, the company clocked a revenue of Rs 330 crore, and for the current fiscal year it is expected to register healthy growth.
"Going by the current trends, we are expecting a clock a turnover of Rs 450 crore", Todi said.
He said the company had also completed the EPC contract for a fertiliser plant at Sindri and Barauni valued at Rs 157 crore, and a baggage handling plant for KRIBHCO.

Energy efficiency is a key focus in the new Parliament building's lighting, and the structure will consume over 50 per cent less power than the conventional system, according to an industry official.
The building, inaugurated in May this year and is set to host its maiden session from Tuesday, also has a lot of customised lighting and even chandeliers, a senior official from a vendor handling a part of the lighting said recently.
"We are...delivering products, which are very energy efficient. We have integrated sensors with the products, and that's how the complete solution comes out," Raja Mukherjee, the head of the business group for the lighting division at Panasonic Life Solutions, told PTI.
There are daylight integration sensors and motion occupancy sensors, which add to the total energy saving, he said.

In an interview with PTI, the minister said so far 1,233 contacts have been traced and categorised into high-risk and low-risk contacts.
"A very positive thing is that all four patients under treatment are now stable, and the condition of the nine-year-old boy, who was on ventilator support, is improving clinically. He is now out of ventilator support and is being given minimal oxygen support," George said.
A round-the-clock control room and 19 teams on the field have helped in the strict implementation of the protocol, bringing things under control, she said.

Six hundred indigenously-manufactured self-neutralising anti-tank mines, known as "Vibhav", have been inducted into the Army to provide mobility kill against all enemy armoured vehicles, officials said on Monday.
The anti-tank mine is made of new-age plastic, which gives it adequate strength and durability to withstand the requirements of storage, handling and operating in varying field conditions, they added.
"It (the 'Vibhav' anti-tank mine) is already in production. It has been completed. It is now in demand. It has been inducted into the Indian Army. Six hundred mines have been inducted (recently)," an official of the manufacturing company told PTI.
Designed and developed completely indigenously in a joint venture with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in India, "Vibhav" is a point-attack anti-tank munition, the officials said.
They said the mines are designed to provide mobility kill against all enemy armoured vehicles.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) India on Thursday announced that edtech social enterprise ConveGenius has built a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot on its platform for government schools and low-free private schools.
The conversational AI chatbot platform -- SwiftChat -- aims to improve learning outcomes for school students using more than 53 conversational AI chatbots that deliver personalised learning content in 13 regional languages to over 100 million students across India.
ConveGenius has built SwiftChat Conversational AI Platform on AWS, a release said.
"Using the SwiftChat platform, which holds 124 million student profiles across 19 million devices, government schools can create omnichannel chatbots to deliver personalised learning, like curated videos and read-along content, through a single AI-enabled chatbot conversation," it said.

ITC Hotels on Thursday announced that it has signed a management agreement with a construction company for Welcomhotel Kalimpong resort in West Bengal.
The 70-key greenfield project will spread over four acres of land and will offer plush rooms with views of the Himalayas and the valley, a company statement said.

US aerospace major Boeing on Thursday outlined its plan for enhancing engineering, manufacturing, and sustainment capabilities of the P-8I long-range maritime surveillance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft in India, eyeing an additional order of six planes.
At present, the Indian Navy has 12 P-8I aircraft.
The company said it had already generated a substantial economic impact, amounting to USD 1.7 billion to support the current P-8I aircraft fleet in service with the Indian Navy.
