Flexi staffing industry logged 14 per cent growth in new jobs in the country in 2022-23, Indian Flexi Staffing Federation (IFS) said on Tuesday.
Members of the industry body ISF collectively added 1.77 lakh new flexi jobs in FY23, driven by the surge in employment particularly in key sectors such as e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, tourism and hospitality, FMCG, consumer durables, and healthcare, a statement said.
Women's participation in the flexi workforce continued to account for 24 per cent in FY'2023.
These findings were unveiled in the ISF's Annual Flexi Staffing Industry Employment Trend Report -2023, which was released on Tuesday.
The reported figures for new flexi jobs by the Indian Staffing Federation represent the combined contribution of both General Flexi Staffing and IT Flexi Staffing industries. The report highlighted that as of March 2023, the total flexi workforce employed by members of the Indian Staffing Federation reached 14.4 lakh.

The Indian flexi staffing industry added 78,000 jobs in July-September 2022, up 6 per cent as compared to the previous quarter, on account of rise in demand across all sectors, a report said.
"Buoyed by a strong festive season and rising demand across sectors, the Indian Staffing Federation (ISF) members added 78,000 new jobs in July-September quarter, a 6 per cent rise in new jobs over previous April-June quarter," said ISF's Flexi Staffing Employment Growth report.
The new jobs in July-September are combination of new jobs in general staffing and IT staffing, it stated.
ISF is the apex industry body representing formal staffing, facility management and security services companies.
New jobs in general staffing  which excludes IT staffing  grew 7.3 per cent in July-September, driven by  rise in demand in FMCG, e-commerce, manufacturing, retail, logistics, banking, hospitality, tourism, insurance, infrastructure, it stated.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh Saturday iterated that security personnel involved in the "excessive use of force" against students during a crackdown on a protest rally here in connection with the alleged killing of two students will be punished.

Expressing shock over the incident in Imphal area which more than 100 students were injured in clashes with security forces on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Singh, who was speaking at the sidelines of a programe here, said "I am really shocked at the excessive use of force ... at what was done to the children. Ministers of the state have personally met the injured students."
Inquiry is on into the serious injury to the students. "Those responsible for the extreme injuries will be arrested and be dealt with legally," the chief minister said.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami returned here on Saturday from his five-day UK visit and said the push to investments in the state will create fresh employment opportunities for the local youth.
"We inked MoUs for investments worth more than Rs 12,500 crore with international firms during the visit. A large number of investors, which also include NRIs, are keen to invest in the state. Many of them are coming to attend the Global Investors Summit being held in December," Dhami told reporters soon after his arrival at Bannu School ground in race course area here.

The Union government gave a nine-month extension in service "on contract basis" to CBDT Chairperson Nitin Gupta on Saturday, the day of his scheduled retirement.
Gupta (60), a 1986-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the Income-tax department, was appointed the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) head in June last year.
He was scheduled to retire on September 30.
The government order said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the re-appointment of Gupta as the CBDT Chairman on a contract basis, with effect from 1.10.2023 till 30.06.2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, in relaxation of the recruitment rules, on usual terms and conditions applicable to re-employed central government officers.
The CBDT is the apex policy-making body for the Income-tax department. It is headed by a chairman and can have six members who are in the rank of special secretary.

L&T on Tuesday said one of its subsidiaries has bagged a 'large' contract for construction of a bridge in Mumbai.
The transportation infrastructure business vertical of L&T Construction has received the Dahisar-Bhayander Bridge project in Mumbai, L&T said in a statement.
The project has been awarded by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). The 4.5-kilometre bridge will significantly reduce the travel time between Dahisar and Bhayander, which currently takes more than 45 minutes.
Though the company did not specify the exact value of the contract, as per its specification, a large contract ranges between Rs 2,500-5,000 crore.
