French institute Ecole Polytechnique signs agreements with two IITs

A leading academic institution in France has signed "specific agreements" with two IITs to foster a deeper exchange of knowledge between the two countries. The agreements were signed during the visit of President and Director General of Ecole Polytechnique, Laura Chaubard, to India during October 7-11, the French Embassy said on Friday. Ecole Polytechnique was founded in 1794 with the aim of providing the country with engineers trained to the highest level, it said in a statement. "Today, it is a leading higher education institution globally, which combines high-level research, education and innovation at the cutting-edge of science and technology and promotes a culture of excellence, and upholds a long- standing humanist tradition," the embassy said. Ecole Polytechnique has signed specific agreements with both IIT-Delhi and IIT-Bombay, the statement said. Naval ship Tabar participates in India-France mega naval exercise 'Varuna'

The navies of India and France carried out a mega wargame in the Mediterranean Sea in reflection of their common strategic interest in the maritime domain. Indian naval ship Tabar and long-range maritime surveillance aircraft P-8I participated in the 22nd edition of the Varuna exercise, the Indian Navy said. The mega exercise took place from September 2 to 4. In addition to INS Tabar, the Indian Navy was represented by the ship borne helicopters at the exercise. The French side was represented by frontline ship FS Provence, submarine Suffren, fighters MB339 and helicopters NH90; Dauphin. Citroen inks MoU with CAB-EEZ Infra Tech to supply 2,000 units of e-C3 EVs

French carmaker Citroen on Monday said it will supply 2,000 units of its electric vehicle e-C3 to urban e-mobility player CAB-EEZ Infra Tech Pvt Ltd over the year. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which the first 100 units of e-C3 were flagged off, Citroen India said in a statement. This further augments 200 e-C3 units already part of the Cab-E fleet taking the total to over 300 units operating across Mumbai and Pune, it added. "Cab-E has been one of the early adopters of the e-C3. Their continued choice of this product is a validation of Citroen's proposition as a key player in promoting sustainable transportation solutions," Citroen India Brand Director, Shishir Mishra said. Kiren Rijiju upset over delay in supercomputer delivery by French firm

Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju is upset over the delay in the delivery of two supercomputers by a French firm to Indian weather forecasting institutes and hopes that the French government will step in to hasten the process. The Earth Sciences Ministry had ordered two supercomputers worth USD 100 million from French firm Eviden, of the Atos Group, last year to better the computing capabilities of its institutions -- the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM). "I am more upset because the target we set was December. The Union Cabinet had already approved purchasing the supercomputer. We have only four petaflop capacity.
