The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority on Wednesday said it has launched a scheme for allotment of 44 industrial plots and expects Rs 5,000 crore in revenue. The land allotment for industries will also generate 10,000 employment opportunities, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) said in a statement. These plots are located in six sectors and cover areas ranging from 135 square metres to 20,354 square metres, it said. "Greater Noida has emerged as a hub of industrial investment. Keeping in view the demand and need of entrepreneurs, the scheme has been launched. Possession of the plot will be given within the stipulated time. With this, thousands of youngsters will get employment opportunities along with investment in the region," GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar said. The Kerala government has decided to allow individual developers to set up industrial parks in the state and will provide them with Rs 3 crore for creating infrastructure facilities like roads, electricity and water supply within such estates. To facilitate individual developers to set up the parks and give a boost to the industrial infrastructure in the state, the government has revised its Private Industrial Estate (PIE) scheme, the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) said in a statement. The Delhi government has constituted 33 teams to regularly inspect industrial units and bring pollution in the city under control, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Friday. He was speaking at a review meeting on industrial pollution with officers of Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), environment department and Delhi Development Authority (DDA). "It has been decided to deploy 141 patrolling teams comprising 472 personnel during the day time and 108 patrolling teams comprising 397 personnel at night from three departments all over Delhi to monitor dumping of industrial waste. "As many as 1,721 registered industrial units in Delhi have switched to PNG," Rai said. Industrial and warehousing space leasing rose 6 per cent to 46.3 million square feet last year across major cities of India, according to Savills India. In its latest report, property consultant Savills India said that the leasing of industrial and warehousing space rose 3 per cent in 2022 across eight major tier-I cities to 36.2 million square feet from 35.1 million square feet. The absorption of space in tier II-III cities increased to 10.1 million square feet in 2022 from 8.6 million square feet in the previous year. The Tier II and III cities include Coimbatore, Guwahati, Indore, Nagpur, Lucknow, Jaipur, Rajpura, Bhubaneswar, Kochi/Ernakulam, Patna, Hosur, Madurai, Varanasi, Hubli and Ludhiana. Agriculture lands will not be acquired for Annur and Mettupalayam industrial park projects in Coimbatore district and instead barren lands will be acquired, Tamil Nadu government assured amidst protests by farmers and opposition parties in the state. Considering the demand of farmers, instead of agricultural lands, only 1,630 acres of barren lands owned by private companies will be acquired for setting up the industrial parks, the government said. Also, satisfactory compensation would be provided to farmers who come forward to willingly give their lands without any compulsion, a release from the industrial department said.
