The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday said that 85,152 posts of headmasters and assistant teachers are vacant in the state, but taking shiksha mitras and instructors into account, the student-teacher ratio is complete and there is no problem in teaching. "At present, under the Basic Education Department, both shiksha mitra and instructor cooperate in studies," Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh said while answering the questions of Samajwadi Party members Anil Pradhan and Abhay Singh during the Question Hour in the budget session of the legislative assembly. Singh said that in basic education, the number of teachers, including part-time instructors, shiksha mitras and assistant teachers is currently 6,28,915 in the state. Vacant govt posts in tribal areas to be filled on priority: HP minister

Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan on Monday said vacant government posts in tribal areas, especially in the education department, would be filled on priority to ensure that education is not hampered for the want of teachers. Presiding over a meeting of the cabinet subcommittee on employment opportunities here, he said that around 70,000 posts of different categories are lying vacant in various departments. Of these, 16,000 posts are vacant in the education department and the government is looking forward to filling up these posts at the earliest, he said. The state has two tribal districts -- Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti. There are also tribal areas in Chamba and Sirmaur districts. During the last five years, 2,375 posts have been filled through the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and 15,706 posts have been filled through the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, according to a statement issued here. Vacancy levels of office spaces remained stable at 16.4 per cent during January-March across six major cities compared to the previous quarter with new supply being in line with current demand, according to Colliers. While Delhi-NCR, Pune and Hyderabad saw an increase in vacancy levels, Chennai witnessed a sharp decline. The vacancy levels of office space in Mumbai and Bengaluru remained by and large stable, the data showed. Real estate consultant Colliers India noted that new supply largely treaded alongside demand in most of the markets, resulting in stable vacancy levels. National Career Service portal lists record 3.5 mn vacancies in 2022-23

As many as 35.7 lakh vacancies were registered on National Career Service (NCS) in 2022-23, which is a record so far, the labour ministry said on Tuesday. The Ministry of Labour and Employment is implementing the National Career Service (NCS) Project as a Mission Mode Project for the transformation of the National Employment Service to provide a variety of employment-related services like job matching, career counselling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, internships etc. The services under NCS are available online, which was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister in 2015. NCS portal has registered the highest vacancies during 2022-23 since its launch in July 2015, a labour ministry statement said. Around 35.7 lakh vacancies have been reported by employers on NCS during 2022-23 compared to around 13 lakh vacancies in 2021-22. The government has for a second time in as many years re-advertised the post of chairman of oil and gas regulator PNGRB, which has been lying vacant since December 2020. The oil ministry this week issued an advertisement inviting applications for the post of chairman of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). It sought applications by July 21 from those who fulfill the qualifications and are not more than 62 years of age, according to the advertisement. The post of chairman of PNGRB has been lying vacant since December 4, 2020, when Dinesh K Sarraf completed his three-year term.
