Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said here Sunday that India will develop the North and South Blocks of Delhi's Raisina Hill complex into the world's largest museum in 2025 which will be almost double the size of France's Louvre museum. An agreement has been signed between France and India for this purpose, the tourism and culture minister said, adding that he was fortunate and proud to be part of the opportunity to execute the world's largest museum project. Shekhawat was speaking to the media in his Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency after arriving here for the first time since taking the oath as a Union cabinet minister. "Once the Central Vista redevelopment project is complete and offices are shifted in 2025, the North and the South Blocks will be converted into a museum and it will be the world's largest museum," he said, adding that it will be almost double the size of the Louvre in Paris. DMRC interactive museum: Get experience of 'driving' metro train

Visitors at a prominent Delhi Metro station can get an experience of 'driving' a train as the DMRC has installed interactive museum exhibits to engage more with passengers and people in general. The exhibits were unveiled on Wednesday at the Shivaji Stadium metro station in the presence of Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The simulator consists of a screen and a joystick, and visitors can get an immersive experience of 'sitting in a train pilot's seat' by pulling the lever, the action being translated on the screen which carries simulated visuals. Besides, an interactive digital display through a wide screen mounted on a kiosk allows visitors to navigate through the history of the DMRC since its inception in 1995 to the first groundbreaking held on October 1, 1998, onto opening of its first corridor in December 2002. India to host 20th Congress of Int'l Agricultural Museums in October

The 20th edition of the Congress of International Agricultural Museums will be hosted in India -- the first time that the global event is being held in the country -- from October 13-18, the organisers said. The congress is a triennial event in the calendar of the International Association of Agricultural Museums (AIMA), a forum for organisations dedicated to promoting interest in the impact of agriculture on human society through the ages. It travels to different countries every three years to discover diverse and unique agricultural, environmental and museographic realities that provide new ideas, experiences and projects that can resonate in other regions and countries, the organisers said in a statement. A special miniature scale model of 'Vande Bharat', the indigenously designed semi-high speed express train, has been put on display at the Pune-based Joshi's Museum of Miniature Railways to provide information about the train to rail enthusiasts. The 'Vande Bharat' model, designed on '1:100' scale, was unveiled by Pune Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil during a special visit to the museum on Tuesday as the facility is celebrating 25 years of its existence. Ravi Joshi, who currently runs the museum, said they made the model based on actual drawings from the Indian Railways. "All minute details were taken into consideration while designing this static model. Work is in progress on a working miniature model of 'Vande Bharat', and it will soon be showcased in the museum, he said. World's first palm-leaf manuscript museum comes up in Thiruvananthapuram

A treasure house of both obscure and celebrated tales of the erstwhile Travancore kingdom that became Asia's first to defeat any European power on Indian soil, the recently opened Palm leaf Manuscript Museum in the Kerala capital has further brightened the state's cultural and academic space. Billed as the world's first palm leaf manuscript museum, the facility is essentially a repository of curious nuggets of administrative, socio-cultural and economic facets of Travancore spanning a period of 650 years till the end of the19th century, besides documents relating to territories of Kochi in the state's middle and Malabar further north. Besides brightening the state's culture space, the museum also serves as a reference point for historical and cultural research for academic and non-academic scholars, officials said.
