Four people were crushed by apple-laden trucks in two separate road incidents in Shimla, police said on Wednesday.
Two people were crushed to death coming under a truck laden with apples in Chaila area of Shimla district, police said.
The incident happened Tuesday evening when the truck from Narkanda was going outside the state taking the Rajgarh-Solan road.
The truck, reportedly by mistake, veered towards Chaila market instead of the SainjRajgarh road and going out of control, hit four vehicles, turned turtle, and crushed two people, one of whom was a woman.
According to preliminary investigations by police, a brake failure led to the accident.
The bodies were extracted with the help of an excavator and sent for post mortem to the Civil Hospital in Theog, police said. A case has been registered and investigations are underway, they said.

Several houses across six panchayats in the Nankhari and Kotgarh areas of Shimla district are at risk of sinking due to incessant rains in the area, officials said on Saturday.
Continuous rains in the past few days have led to the sinking of land in a few villages, with several families evacuated to safer places, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi told PTI.
We would request the geological experts to conduct a survey to find the reason behind the sinking of land, he said.
A cloudburst occurred in the upper areas of Jaban in the Anni area of the Kullu district on Friday night, triggering flash floods in Deori Khud.
An alert was sounded and the people living along the river bank were shifted to safer places at midnight.
The flash flood also caused damage to orchards and rendered inaccessible Anni-Barsa road in many places.
A surge in the discharge of water created a flood-like situation also in Kotu Nallah.

The total number of voters in Rajasthan has reached 5.26 crore, of which 2.51 crore are women, the state election department said on Wednesday.
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said during a special brief revision program of voter lists in the state, there has been an increase of over 6.96 lakh voters.
Till the date of last publication, over 5.26 crore voters are registered in the state. Of these, over 2.73 crore are men and 2.51 crore are women, he said.
Gupta said under this revision program, a total of 11.78 lakh voters above 80 years and 17,241 voters above 100 years are registered in the final published voter list.
Similarly, a total of 5.61 lakh specially qualified people are registered as voters. These voters registered in the voter list by the Election Commission of India have been provided the option of voting facility through postal ballot in the form of home voting at the time of elections.

Honda's MotoGP team and former world champion Marc Mrquez will be ending their 11-year partnership at the end of the season, the Japanese engine maker said Wednesday.
Driving a Honda, Mrquez won six world championships, won 59 races, and secured 64 pole positions in the MotoGP class.
His last world championship came in 2019. The 30-year-old Spaniard has struggled with injury since he broke his right arm in the 2020 opener. He is currently 15th in the points standings.
The agreement will cut short Mrquez's current contract by a year.
