India, through its efforts, has been an important contributor to progress across the Sustainable Development Goals, Vice Chair of the NITI Aayog Suman Bery said. These remarks by Bery were made on Monday. He is representing India at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), taking place at the UN headquarters from July 8 to July 17, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. The theme is Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions'. Tata Steel, South East Railway join hands to develop sustainable infra

Private steel major Tata Steel on Wednesday said it will jointly work with South Eastern Railway (SER) to develop sustainable rail infrastructure by utilising its slag-based aggregates. A deliberation on the project execution was held between officials of the SER and Tata Steel, the company said in a statement. Grow Indigo raises $8 mn to drive future of sustainable agriculture

Sustainable agriculture company Grow Indigo on Sunday said it has raised over USD 8 million (around Rs 67 crore) in a funding round with a cumulative capital raise of more than USD 23 million (around Rs 191 crore) to date. The round saw interest from investors globally including participation from Indigo Ag, Mahyco and individuals and the fund raised will be utilised for driving the future of sustainable agriculture, the company said in a statement. Grow India is a joint venture between Indigo Ag and Mahyco that was formed in 2018. The company operates a carbon farming platform for smallholder farmers in India that includes four carbon programs across 13 states and cumulatively aims to reduce or remove emissions by 20 MT of CO2 annually from agriculture. About 8,00,000 acres have already been enrolled in the company's programs. "With sustainability at its core, we have now demonstrated adoption of biological inputs and carbon solutions at scale by farmers," Grow Indigo Executive .

Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland has earmarked investments of Rs 1,200 crore in Tamil Nadu, for taking up overall business expansion over the next three to five years, the company said on Monday. Ashok Leyland Managing Director and CEO Shenu Agarwal exchanged documents with Industries Department Secretary V Arun Roy during the second day of the Global Investors Meet in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin here.' The investment of Rs 1,200 crore is assigned for strategic initiatives to drive innovation, technological advancements and overall business expansion, the heavy commercial vehicle maker said in a release. UltraTech to have 85% green energy mix by 2030 to meet sustainability goals

The largest cement and ready-mix concrete maker Ultratech Cement on Wednesday announced that it plans to increase the overall share of green energy in its total energy mix to 85 per cent by 2030. As an interim target for its sustainability objectives and targets, the AV Birla Group company plans to increase its total green energy share from its current 22 per cent to 60 per cent by FY26. Currently the company has 691 MW of green energy capacity, which includes 262 MW of WHRS (waste heat recovery system) installed capacity and 429 MW of contracted renewable energy. This translates to about 22 per cent of its current energy requirements. "As the country's largest cement maker, it is our responsibility to lead the way in building a more sustainable and green future for the industry by decarbonization. Submit bids for green hydrogen, electrolyser mfg projects by Dec 12: Govt

The last date to submit bids for green hydrogen and electrolyser manufacturing projects under the government's SIGHT Scheme ends on December 12, Parliament was informed on Thursday. In January 2023, the Union Cabinet approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) with an outlay of Rs 19,744 crore with an aim to make India a global hub for manufacturing this clean source of energy. The mission is expected to lead to development of 5 Million Metric Tons per annum of green hydrogen production capacity by 2030, New and Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh said in Lok Sabha. "Request for selection (RfS) has also been issued for selection of green hydrogen producers for setting up production facilities of 4,50,000 tonnes for green hydrogen in India under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme (Mode-1-Tranche-I) on July 10, 2023.
